A SEPTA official said Thursday that Zachariah Spires 24, was recaptured and booked into the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on May 30. Details of his arrest, including where and how he was captured, have not been released. Spires escaped along with Leonard Lowery, 32, on Feb. 12. He was caught two days later by Parkersburg police. Both men were in jail on charges of receiving stolen property. Spires also had been charged with failure to comply. UPDATED: 2/17/2017 11:56 A.M. SEPTA prison escapee Leonard Lowery waived his extradition back to Ohio today in Wood County Circuit Court. He will now be returned to the SEPTA Correctional Facility in Nelsonville, Ohio, where he escaped on Feb. 12th. He appeared before Judge Jason Wharton. Local authorities are continuing their search for one of two inmates who escaped from a correctional facility in Athens County. Parkersburg Police arrested Lowery this morning, and he was arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court. A news release from the correctional facility says Lowery is being held at the North Central Regional Jail on a community-control violation. Martin says Lowery has not been arrested, since he currently is not on Ohio's national crimes list. Once he is arrested, extradition proceedings to the Buckeye State will begin.
